The Tower Heritage Center Description

Homeschool Unit Study: “Building Stories”

This fall, homeschoolers ages 8-14 are invited to let their imagination run wild, turning their creative ideas into compelling stories. Through guided instruction, creative writing prompts, and examples of pieces from local writers, students will explore the fundamentals of storytelling – culminating in a final short story to take home and share.

Programs are held monthly at The Tower Heritage Center from 10am-12pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Homeschoolers learn in a relaxed, hands-on setting inside of a historic building. These programs connect students to storytelling, creativity, and history – sparking curiosity.

Your student(s) will:

  • Learn the foundations of creative storytelling

  • Practice building characters, settings & plots through fun activities

  • Write a short story that will be printed and shared at the end of the unit

Program Schedule:

  1. Sep 9: How to Build Characters

  2. Oct 14: Setting the Scene

  3. Nov 11: Structure of a Story

  4. Dec 9: Final Reading Party (Parents Welcome!)

Registration Deadline: September 9th
Class Time: 10:00 am - Noon
Cost: $45/student
